Lovers' Sex Video Goes Public Publication Date: April 5, 2010 - 1:29pm Updated: April 5, 2010 - 6:07pm News Section:  Varney Adonis Bartener Woman Claims Victimization, Threatens Suicide An x-rated home video clip surfaced in Monrovia recently involving a young woman and her boyfriend in sexual acts that claimed the attention of many, especially young college students in the country. The video clip has since spread like wildfire mostly through mobile phones and other portable electronic devices. The young woman, who identified herself as Peterlyne Tarley, yesterday told the Daily Observer that she had been sexually victimized by her ex-boyfriend, Varney Adonis Bartener, with severe damaging effects on her life and reputation as a result of the video going public. Ms. Tarley, 24, said she is also a student of Catholic-owned Stella Maris Polytechnic, reading accounting and management. With tears dripping from her eyes, Miss Tarley disclosed that her life has been filled with sorrow and pain in addition to emotional disturbances and enormous stress, a situation, she added, that often made her wanting to commit suicide, since the video became public. According to her, Varney Adonis Bartener, 42, a father of seven children, persuaded her to record their sexual moments on his phone, with a promise allegedly by Bartener that the video recordings would be deleted from the phone after both of them had watched it. But when contacted via mobile phone on Miss Tarley's allegation against him, Mr. Bartener angrily said, “It is not for that girl's (Peterlyne) business I will worry myself. I will not [get dry] for her. In fact nobody should call me on my phone again!” He then hung up the phone call with this reporter. However, Miss Tarley had prepared a written statement in an attempt to dismiss the notion that the video had been recorded for 'commercial reasons'. The statement reads: BEHIND THE SCENE My name is Peterlyne Tarley, a Liberian born woman from Grand Gedeh County, aged of 24, living with my mother in Sinkor Fiamah. I am presently attending the Stella Maris Polytechnic Institute, majoring in accounting and management. The coming lines will explain the real story behind the scene of this so popular X-rated clip that most of you have probably seen on the streets. It is with a heart full of sorrow and pain that I am writing these few lines. I have found it so hard to talk to everyone about what I am going through, the emotional disturbances and stress are enormous. Any young woman out there could have been a victim of such a situation which, of course, I do not wish anyone to experience. What happened to me is causing so much damage to my reputation, a reputation that I regained and built over the years. It is affecting everything in my life, relationships with families, friends and loved ones. Some of you might have an idea of what I am facing. However, I know most of you will have a drastically different view of the situation. Therefore, I have decided to reveal what is beyond. I do not think there are several ways to say it; the so intimate video was recorded and published by my ex boyfriend Varney Adonis Bartener. It is not something that I was paid to do. I have in my possession valuable proof for such statement I made. Varney and I met in December 2007 and we spent one year together as friends. I lived with him on the Duport road, Paynesville. Our relationship was well known by my family, friends and as well as by his friends and some of his family. He was someone that I strongly used to love and used to care about so much. When I met him, he was going through many difficulties in his life. Everybody was avoiding him, even his own relatives because of some problem he had with the international justice. Varney Bartener is a 42-year-old man, father of seven children, yet none of them were there for him. I tried my best to be there for him all the time, talking and comforting him. We were always together having fun, going to parties, beaches, nightclubs, visiting friends, doing what a regular couple should do. Normally, we usually took photos using our phones, but there was this particular day he asked me to try something new. He wanted us to record our sexual moment on his phone, promised me that it would stay between us, and even added that he would delete it once we had finished watching. I trusted him and I agreed to do it. Varney told me that he deleted the clip from his phone, which he never did. As we were living together, time was passing by and the issue was being forgotten. I know that I was very naïve to accept that, but all things put aside, he was my boyfriend and I used to believe in almost every word he had said to me. Our relationship continued to exist under the same roof I was living with him, and we were still a couple until two of his daughters moved to the house. We started having many problems because they never wanted to accept the fact that their father was dating someone of their ages. After a whole series of daily arguments, Varneys' daughters decided to move out. In order to maintain peace between everybody, I followed their steps and decided to move out also. After some time, I decided not to continue with my relationship with Varney. In December 2008, Varney and I broke up. I decided to start with a new way of life with less drama in it. To my outmost surprise, in January 2010, I started to receive phone calls from people regarding an X-rated clip of me but nobody was brave enough to show me the clip. The issue became a suspense type Alfred Hitchcock until March 24, when I discovered the clip myself through the help of one of my best friends, Touche. I cried up [out] my soul on that particular day. I could not believe it was actually happening to me. All of a sudden, life became a fairy tale to my eyes. I thought that it was not worth me to be still breathing, and I even thought about committing suicide, but God helped me through. With the help and counseling of a few people, I was able to stand firm and face the drama. I have continued to go to school although most of the time I feel so lost. I have tried not to lose concentration in classes and on campuses; however, the video has been published all over the campus if not to say all over the country. Every day, it is taking me so much courage just to get out of my bed to go to school knowing that I will have to face the severe and harsh mockeries of fellow students who most probably do not know the story behind the X-rated scene. On campus and on the streets the laughs are aloud. Many people have tagged me with different names such as 'Porn Star' and 'Ice woman'. People close to me came with the idea that I should leave the country, but I strictly refused because I strongly believe that if one cannot be at peace in her home country then she should never be happy. I will continue to face the drama and make sure that something positive can come out of it. I do not wish any young woman to face a situation like mine in their lifetime. That is why I am asking every young woman or girl to be very cautious when it comes to spending or doing private activities with their mates. I made a mistake, I was not being cautious enough and now I am learning from it. To all parents, please advise your daughters accordingly. That was the real story beneath the clip. Ok, it is understandable that it may have been "consenting sex" between both parties. However, this is total disrespect to the young lady and her family. Since there may be NO LAW on the "books" to prosecute him, my suggestion would be to give him a good old fashion ass whipping. And I know some gbanna pekin dem who will beat his ass, naked him, and txt his nakedness to everyone in Liberia. What disgrace. Another abuse of good technology.

saw this video last night, now I'm not the most moral person, but I am principled. This guy was out to destroy this young woman. He edited the film and has it titled Peterlyn and her boyfriend having sex and then another title Peterlyn giving a blowjob(most damaging). I understand today Peterlyn attempted suicide(i had predicted this when I first heard the report that she was at a local college)? Popular young woman formerly Miss Malika contestant. Now my point this guy is really low class(his face not anywhere on film, just his male organ), if you and any woman in Africa do a tape never let it get out, this not America, the woman will have a stigma for the rest of here life. At such a young age I feel pity for the naive young woman, but at lest she is brave enough to use her plight as a lesson to other young woman in Liberia.

WOW!!!! what can a man in his situation do for a young lady .... her own admission she mentioned him facing problems ....these young ladies need to take time and grow-up gradually with their age group... this is the logical outcome of majority of this situation; young girls will always get the short end of the stick. I saw the video here in the US
